Bar exam results out Friday

The results of the 2008 bar examinations will be released by the Supreme Court (SC) tomorrow, April 3.

“Barring any hitches, we expect the results to be released at 4 pm onwards,” SC spokesperson Jose Midas Marquez said.

The SC justices will meet at 9 am tomorrow to deliberate on the passing percentage.

It is only after the en banc meeting that the examination scores of the examinees will be “decoded,” where the tabulated scores of the examinees will be matched with their corresponding assigned numbers. Examinees do not write their names on test booklets when they took the exam and only write their assigned numbers.

“The examinees do not put their names. They have assigned numbers. They write their names on a card, which is placed in a sealed envelope, which corresponds to the booklet. The cards are not given to examiners (who check the booklets). The scores are placed in front and will be tabulated with the assigned number,” Marquez said.

Decoding may take hours considering that there are thousands of examinees.”That’s the time that the cards will be opened,” Marquez said.

Figures from the Office of the Bar Confidante headed by Deputy Clerk of Court and Bar Confidant Atty. Cristina Layusa showed 6,364 took the bar exams.

Anxious examinees and parents usually camp out at the Supreme Court to await the results.

The list of successful examinees will be displayed on LCS projectors at the Supreme Court front yard near its Padre Faura entrance.

Justice Dante Tinga is the chair of the 2008 Committee on Bar Examinations.
